Bio

Hi! As you may have guessed, my name is Jenny Cooper. I’m a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film. I’ve always been insatiably artsy, which translated in college to four years of classes in film production, animation, production design, drawing, architecture and theatre (just to name a few) -not to mention countless hours spent working/volunteering/interning on various artistic endeavors from the Summer I spent as an art department P.A. for the UT Film Institute‘s Summer Feature Film, Dance with the One, to a semester spent in L.A. interning simultaneously for Participant Media‘s Social Action department and the Art Department of the CBS series Moonlight, to a year’s worth of painting scenery for the UT Performing Arts Center‘s theatrical performances. Even my free time is often filled by sketches, cartoons, Photoshop, stories and paintings, etc.

It seems much of my time is balanced between finding inspiration and seeking an outlet for the resulting ideas, which are, invariably, visual. One of my favorite modes of inspiration has always been travel. I moved around a lot growing up;  from Austin, to Portsmouth, England, to Fremont, CA, to Plano, TX and eventually back to Austin. I have also been lucky enough to visit such fascinating places as New York, London, New Orleans, Memphis, Sydney and Kona, HI. I have seen a volcano, a canyon, and more than one cavern, and I am always searching for new mini-adventures along the way. For example, this Summer I added  Norway and Belgium to my list and just moved back west to Berkeley, CA with my boyfriend, Dries. However, I have to say, I look forward to airports and road trips about as much as the destination, because no matter how fascinating (or not) the destination, it always seems to be the people we encounter and the process of getting there that leave me with the best stories, memories, and, of course, artwork!

You can view my most  recent projects on the “Recent Projects” page of this site, and my resume here.
